The latest certified ZigBee-compliant platform (ZPC) from RadioPulse brings to 13 the number of ZCPs certified by the ZigBee Alliance. Based in Korea, RadioPulse's ZigBee-compliant Lime module consists of RF transceiver, 8-bit microcontroller and protocol software.

All ZigBee-compliant platforms include the IEEE 802.15.4 radio and the ZigBee stack up to the application layer and will be available as either chips or modules.

In addition to its latest ZPC, the Alliance also passed the 10,000 mark in the number of ZigBee Developer Kits shipped. The Alliance estimates that its member companies have trained thousands of engineers. Additionally, ZigBee recently hosted its second annual developers' conference.

With more than 29,000 free downloads since June 2005, ZigBee now ranks as the third most downloaded IEEE 802 standard.

"With six of the world's top 10 semiconductor manufacturers as members and a number of other talented chip makers, the Alliance enjoys the strongest, most diverse supply chain possible, " said Bob Heile, chairman of the ZigBee Alliance.
